Bike Hub at Taylor Square, Darlinghurst – NSW

The Council of the City of Sydney commissioned Heritage 21 to undertake research and documentation on this underutilised building in the heart of Darlinghurst’s Taylor Square.

Heritage 21 wrote the Conservation Management Plan for the building, undertook a detailed fabric analysis and prepared architectural drawings for a proposed combined bike hub and museum in the building. This was inclusive of a wraparound awning which the building originally had, but along the way it had been lost. The building is an early exponent of the Federation style and was originally used as a bank and retail shops.
