- About The Project
Heritage 21 was a consultant to ‘Central Signs’ for this 3 – year long project. Heritage 21’s role was to advise Central Signs on the best locations for signage at the stations and fixing methods to existing building fabric that would generate the least amount of heritage impact as possible. There were more than thirty stations involved throughout New South Wales.
- What was done
Each station was inspected by Heritage 21 prior to the application of signage. Each signage type and its fixing was discussed with Central Signs. Heritage 21 examined shop drawings for individual fixings of signs to various stations and commented with heritage advise pursuant to the reduction of impacts. After the signs were installed, Heritage 21 inspected the stations and provided certification upon completion of the works all meetings were recorded and inspections photographed so as to provide evidence of the condition extent.

Why was the work undertaken?
Transport for NSW rolled out a State-wide station signage upgrade. The selected contractor (Central Signs) was required to appoint a heritage consultant to ensure that positions of signs and fixing methodologies conformed to the signage guideline manual produced by Transport for NSW. Later, it was necessary to certify the works upon completion. Heritage 21 fulfilled this role.
